We focus on breeding the highest quality Ayam Cemanis currently in existence – striving for solid black and double fibro genetics. We cull for fibro expression and the stated Standard of Perfection. We also breed birds with the best personalities. There are varying degrees of Fibro strength, often referred to within the Ayam Cemani community as “single copy” and “double copy”. A single copy carrier would look all black from the outside, but the pigment generally doesn’t penetrate further than the surface of the skin – leaving meat and internal organ coloring inconsistent. Single copy carriers tend to have lighter mouths (pink to oyster), mulberry to the face, and have a higher probability of throwing offspring with leakage (although we must remember feather leakage can present itself in even double copy carriers) and white toes. A double copy carrier is our ultimate goal. Having two copies of FM will excel the development of your program, deepening that fibro gene and achieving a “thoroughly black” Ayam Cemani.
